Monmouth County Habitat Seeks Homeowner Applicants for Two-Family House in Fair Haven

May 25, 2025: Monmouth County Habitat for Humanity is excited to announce that applications are now open for a one-of-a-kind homeownership opportunity in the heart of Fair Haven. The home currently under construction is a two-family home – designed not only to provide affordable housing, but also to offer the homeowner a long-term income stream through a rental unit.

The family selected for this opportunity will purchase and live in the first-floor unit of the home — a spacious 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom residence – while benefiting from the income generated by the upstairs rental unit, which features 2 bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms. The unique model is only the second of its kind constructed by Monmouth Habitat and is a testament to the organization’s commitment to creating sustainable, forward-thinking housing solutions.

“This home doesn’t just offer a roof over a family’s head –  it offers the opportunity to build long-term stability and financial independence through affordable homeownership and rental income,” said Meredith Darche, Executive Director of Monmouth County Habitat for Humanity. “We are proud to bring this innovative model to Fair Haven and grateful to our local partners who helped make it possible.”

Monmouth County Habitat is now seeking a first-time homebuyer who:

  • Demonstrates a need for affordable housing
  • Is willing to partner with Habitat through “sweat equity” hours
  • Meets income and credit guidelines
  • Is committed to maintaining the property and being a positive presence in the community
  • Applications are encouraged from individuals or families currently living or working in Monmouth County. Those interested in learning more can visitwww.habitatmonmouth.org or call (732) 728-0441. Virtual and in-person information sessions will be held in the coming weeks.

Fair Haven, known for its small-town charm, top-rated schools, and vibrant community life, offers an ideal setting for a family to put down roots and thrive.
