Volunteers Needed!

Volunteers are the heart and soul of Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County. Without people like you, who share their time and talents with us, we would not be able to fulfill our mission of providing safe, affordable, and decent housing in our community.
You can make a difference by helping hardworking families and individuals achieve self-reliance and stability, and improve the lives of low and fixed-income Veterans and seniors through our housing programs.

No experience is needed, just a desire to learn and work hard. Our onsite crew leads will teach you everything you need to know.

Build Site
Anyone who can swing a hammer or set a block in place is welcome to volunteer on a construction site.  We usually have a house (or two!) under construction at any time. What you will do will depend on which stage of construction we are at, but there is something for everyone. Please register on our online Volunteer Calendar before heading out to be sure the site you want to visit is open.
Minimum age 16 years old to be on-site and 18 years old to use power tools.

Veterans Build/L.I.F.T. (Local Initiative for Troops) Home Repairs Program
Our Veterans Build programs serve eligible veterans in Monmouth County. This program is a collaboration with Coastal Habitat’s L.I.F.T. Housing Repairs Program. Volunteers will complete veteran home repair and home upkeep projects. Even minor projects can be overwhelming and costly to a veteran homeowner with a low or fixed income. This program can relieve concerns and remedy safety and comfort issues. Projects include critical home repairs such as ramp installation, railing repairs, widening walkways for wheelchairs, general repairs, and assistance with landscape upkeep.
Minimum age 16 years old to be on-site and 18 years old to use power tools.

Ramps & Rails
Volunteers work alongside our construction crew to build ramps and rails, helping elderly and disabled individuals to maintain their independence.

A Brush With Kindness
A Brush with Kindness program serves low-income homeowners who struggle to maintain the exterior of their homes. The preservation program offers landscaping and minor repairs and painting so that eligible homeowners can continue to live in safe, decent homes.

Do you have a few hours to spare each week? The Habitat Monmouth ReStore is a successful retail outlet providing new, gently used building materials and home furnishings. Volunteers are vital in keeping the ReStore operating! Volunteer Hours: Wed-Sat, 10 AM – 5 PM.

In the Warehouse: we need muscle! Help us load/unload large donations, move heavy items, and assist customers with furniture.
On the Sales Floor: we need cashiers and volunteers to accept small donations, assist with customer service, and keep the sales floor tidy.
Minimum age of 14 to volunteer in ReStore.


We always need volunteers to help us run our fundraising events! Whether it is helping with set up, registration, silent auctions or gift baskets, keeping score at our pickleball tournament, or being the Hole in One witness at golf, we would love to hear from you.

Annual events include Pickleball Tournament (April), Women Build (May) and Golf for Homes (July). Visit our Events pages to learn more.

Volunteers need to be 14 years old to work at events.


Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County (HFHMC) is looking for new members to add energy, inspiration, and creativity to our committees. we do not require a large time commitment, most meet monthly, bimonthly, or quarterly. If you are interested in volunteering for any of these committees or have any questions about where your skills can be best used, please reach out to Board of Trustees President, Kim Stulb, at or 732.264.6879.

Resource Development

This committee requires volunteers who can develop creative fundraising ideas and help implement them successfully.  Individuals who are civically engaged and who are outgoing and well-connected in the business community are ideally suited for this committee.  A background in budgeting and finance is very helpful.

Help to source resources needed to support efforts and goals. includes identifying and approaching potential individual and corporate donors; developing new fundraising avenues; raising awareness of HFHMC throughout our communities.

Special Events/Women Build

Members of this committee will work closely with the Development Committee to help plan and run events, such as the Women Build, Golf Outing, and other special events.


Assist in the planning, designing, and scheduling of projects. assist with land acquisitions for future projects. Activities may include construction progress reviews; suitability reviews of potential new sites; establishing design standards; setting safety practices on sites; and more.


ReStore resale outlets accept donated goods that are sold to the general public at a reduced price. The proceeds help local Habitat affiliates fund operations and the construction of Habitat homes within their communities.

Committee members will advise on and facilitate the goals of the HFHMC’s retail operation, the ReStore in Freehold. These goals include increasing revenue, efficiency in operations, effective marketing, recruitment and retention of volunteers; and community outreach to promote the ReStore.

Family Services

Family Services Committee is looking for individuals who are detail-oriented but also good listeners who relate well with people on a one to one basis.  Members of the committee are responsible for screening potential applicants, interviewing families, and verifying qualifying criteria, then making recommendations to the Board for approval for rehab or home ownership.

All committee members will make home visits and should feel comfortable serving as a liaison between the families and Habitat for Humanity to ensure that the families understand the program requirements and feel supported and nurtured.  Training is provided.

Volunteer Support

Members of this committee work closely with the Volunteer Coordinator to recruit and support our volunteers, connecting them to appropriate committees, and providing orientation, hospitality and appreciation.
