Honoring Juan Fajardo
We are honored to announce that the 2026 Patriot Polar Plunge will again be in memory of NJ State Trooper, Sgt. Juan Fajardo. He was also a Lieutenant in the NJ National Guard. Please see a note from Juan’s family below:
In November 2021, the community experienced the tragic loss of Juan Fajardo, a beloved neighbor, friend, and extraordinary individual. Juan had recently turned 41 and was deeply devoted to his wife and their three young children, ages 5 to 12. Juan served as a New Jersey State Trooper and a National Guardsman, and at one point, was part of the Governor’s security detail. Beyond his professional achievements, he was known for his generous spirit, sharp sense of humor, and unwavering kindness. He also gave back to the community by coaching youth soccer and football, inspiring countless children through his leadership and compassion.
Following his passing, the community came together in mourning, holding a candlelight vigil in his honor. His funeral, held at Brigadier General William C. Doyle Memorial Cemetery, reflected the magnitude of his service and character — featuring a full military ceremony, including a flyover by state and military units.
Juan Fajardo’s legacy continues to live on through the lives he touched and the community he served with such heart and dedication.
