A message of hope

Dear Friends-
We are checking in with our Habitat for Humanity family.  The staff at Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County is fine and doing what it takes to keep our mission going while remaining safe and protected.  More importantly, we are hopeful, especially when we have good news to share with you.
First, we were thrilled beyond measure to have donated 375 respirators, 850 surgical masks, 860 gowns and 90 goggles to help our local healthcare workers! Like you, we want to do what we can to support those on the frontlines of this pandemic.
Second, the construction of the Habitat home in Long Branch continues at a steady pace. We are being extremely safety and health conscious, with a goal of getting the house enclosed.  We are almost there. The roof is planned to go on this week. At that time we will reassess whether to continue, or to stop and wait until the pandemic is over before continuing. We want to do what we do best…build hope.  But we are also very much aware of our civic responsibility to flatten the curve and keep our employees safe.  We are constantly reassessing our actions and objectives.
As you know, the work of Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County is focused on the conviction that every man, woman and child should have a simple, durable place to live in dignity and safety, and that decent, affordable shelter in our local community should be a matter of conscience and action for all.
We remain hopeful.  We will get through these stressful times.  We will continue to hear stories of how neighbors are helping neighbors.  We are all one community, and we all look out for one another. Please take care of yourselves, and your loved ones.
Thank you and stay safe.
Warm regards,
President, Board of Trustees
Executive Director
