L.I.F.T. (Local Initiative for Troops)

The L.I.F.T. home repair program serves eligible Veterans and their families in Monmouth County. Driven by volunteer power, donations, and fundraising events, the program completes home repair and home upkeep projects at no cost to the Veteran.

The L.I.F.T. (Local Initiative for Troops) home repairs program was launched by Coastal Habitat in 2019. In 2023, Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County partnered with Coastal Habitat to expand the program throughout the entire county. On July 1, 2024, the two Habitat affiliates officially merged to create Monmouth County Habitat for Humanity. This merger combines staff, volunteers, programs, and resources, to serve all 53 municipalities in Monmouth County more effectively and efficiently.

We are thankful to the two local businesses, SRS Distribution (Perth Amboy) and USA Building Maintenance, whose generous support of our L.I.F.T. program made our roofing projects possible.

Thank you to the supporters of our 2023 Pickleball Tournament and 2024 Pickleball Tournament – the funds raised at these events directly support our L.I.F.T. home repairs program.

Types of Projects

Even minor projects can be overwhelming and costly to a veteran homeowner with a low or fixed income. The L.I.F.T. program can relieve concerns, and remedy safety and comfort issues.

Projects include home repairs such as ramp installation, railing repairs, widening walkways for wheelchairs, as well as general repairs and assistance with landscape upkeep.
