FAQs

The name of the new organization is Monmouth County Habitat for Humanity.

The strategic collaboration resulting in the merger which created Monmouth County Habitat for Humanity brings together staff, volunteers, programs, resources, skillsets, and dedication to serve all of Monmouth County more effectively and efficiently. Both Coastal Habitat for Humanity and Habitat for Humanity in Monmouth County bring strengths and best practices to the new organization, alongside a commitment to working together in service to Monmouth County residents and communities. Together we remain devoted to our mission of bringing people together to build homes, communities, and hope.

Our main office will be located at 45 South Street, Freehold above the Freehold ReStore. We will also maintain a satellite office located behind the Asbury Park ReStore located at 1105 Memorial Drive, Asbury Park.

The merger will be finalized on July 1, 2024. As we work towards integrating into a stronger, more efficient organization, our primary focus remains serving as a resource for our partner families, volunteers, donors, and the Monmouth County community. Habitat homeowners, partner families, and residents in need of assistance will continue to be served by the same caring, dedicated staff and volunteers with an increased capacity to provide more efficient assistance. Our support and services are stronger than ever.

Bringing together our two affiliates will allow us to expand these programs.  We will cover the entire county more efficiently and effectively while still providing the same resources that local residents, community partners, and supporters have come to know and trust. Our dedication to enhancing community services and improving lives continues to be our mission.

Two. The Asbury Park ReStore, located at 1105 Memorial Drive, and the Freehold ReStore, located at 45 South Street, will both remain in operation. Both ReStores will continue to receive donated materials, providing affordable, new, or gently used household items and construction materials to the local community. Revenue generated by the ReStores supports our affordable housing programs and activities.

Our volunteers will be able to continue in their current roles and will now have access to county-wide volunteer opportunities. Our volunteers’ dedication, experience, and contributions will be needed now more than ever as we grow our service to residents and communities throughout all of Monmouth County.

To volunteer on a build site or in either ReStore please contact Volunteer Coordinator, Lori Schneider, lschneider@habitatmonmouth.org or (732) 728.0441 ext. 314, or Director of Development, Kim Sambade, at ksambade@coastalhabitat.org or (732) 898.4094.

From the beginning of our discussions, a primary goal was to retain our dedicated, skilled staff from both affiliates, and we are grateful that we have been able to accomplish that.  While roles may change slightly, you will continue to see and interact with the same individuals you have come to know, rely on, and appreciate.

In addition, our growing volunteer build program will be able to continue expanding with more affordable house builds, more repair and renovation projects, and more community-building activities suitable for a variety of ages and skill sets.

Yes. One of the primary goals of the merger is to expand our production of affordable homes. By streamlining operations, enhancing purchasing power, and increasing our volunteer base we will have the capacity to build more homes every year fulfilling the dream of homeownership for more partner families. Our commitment to providing affordable housing support to the Monmouth County Community remains our top priority.

The Board of Trustees of Monmouth County Habitat for Humanity will consist of board members from both affiliates’ existing boards.

Executive Board, Monmouth County Habitat for Humanity:
